Quinn Estates have secured planning permission to redevelop a redundant brickworks site and transform it into a thriving rural business park. The former Hammill Brickworks in Woodnesborough is a 5.80 hectare site and is being developed for mixed use, with 24 light industrial units and 19 family homes.
Originally the site of the Woodnesborough Colliery, the Hammill Brickworks was connected to the East Kent Light Railway (EKLR) which was used to transport coal to the site. The historic locomotive sheds built on the site still exist today and will be converted into six live/work units as part of the development.
The 24 light industrial units will provide 2,352m² of commercial floor space, designed as small start-up units to attract new businesses and/or relocation of existing businesses.
The development also includes 19 family homes which will be designed in character with the local environment.
The site is located close to the historic town of Sandwich with mainline rail links to London, including the high speed service to St Pancras International. There are excellent road connections via the A2/M2 to Dover, Canterbury and London.
